HUG members receive support and training on trapping feral cats and information on economical spay/neuter programs. Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the most humane strategy for reducing the number of community cats and improving the quality of life for cats, wildlife and people. TNR involves trapping feral cats, spaying and neutering them, vaccinating them (including rabies), surgically removing the tip of one ear, and returning them to their original location. HUG loans traps with a returnable deposit or you can buy your own.
Humane Urban Group is a non-profit organization geared toward improving the lives of community and feral cats. With TNR the cats are trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, given medical treatment as needed and returned to their original location. HUG is a 501(c) (3), not-for-profit organization. Contributions are fully deductible to the extent of the law. Every dollar goes directly towards helping the animals. There is no money spent on salaries, rent or professional fundraising. Read more
